Touring Sagamore

I toured the historic Sagamore Farm this morning in celebration of the 140th running of the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore this weekend.  The farm turns 90 this year and is undergoing renovations as Under Armour owner, Kevin Plank, who has his eye on becoming the owner of a Triple Crown winning horse.

Sagamore's main track is made up of a Tapeta surface, it's made of Sand, Fiber, Wax, Rubber, and an exclusive to Sagamore Farm recycled Under Armour fabric.

This surface as it was explained on the tour, is akin to a human running on wet sand.

The horses wont get their fastest times, but it helps to strengthen and condition their muscles for racing on other surfaces.
